Currently, about 14,000 Marylanders with significant developmental disabilities receive funding from DDA. Of those 14,000 only about 500 now participate in SDS. The remaining 13,500 continue to receive services from traditional providers. Many of those traditional providers continue to offer services in segregated settings such as day habilitation, sheltered workshops, and work enclaves.
